We are excited to welcome you to The Chesterfield Guest House, your seaside home away from home in Torquay, Devon.
From the moment you arrive, you’ll feel a sense of comfort and belonging. Our self check-in service offers you maximum flexibility; allowing you to settle in at your own pace. As you come in, help yourself to some delicious treats in the reception area and take in the “stunning” lounge and games room, which is adorned with a mural created by a local artist. You are more than welcome to ring the bell to see if we are in and say hello to us or you can continue up the stairs to your room.
All of our rooms are modern and freshly decorated and feature luxurious beds, en-suite bathrooms with Faith in Nature toiletries and complimentary welcome tea trays with freshly ground coffee, tea, biscuits and hot chocolate. On sunny days, the front garden invites you to sit back, relax and soak in the surroundings as the world goes by.
Our Torquay based Guest House offers easy access to local attractions, restaurants, bars and the picturesque marina. Many popular destinations are within walking distance and Torre Abbey and the Riviera International Centre (known for hosting various conferences) are nearby. If you prefer to leave your car behind then public transport options are readily available, including trains, buses and a ferry service. There’s so much to see and do during your stay and we are always happy to share tips and advice with you.
Now here’s a little bit about us…
Although we have only been running The Chesterfield for just a year, we have an “eye for detail and excellent customer service”. My background as a former primary school teacher and Dan’s experience as a marine scientist led us to pursue a fulfilling life in the hospitality industry. I am a true local, born and raised in the Bay, and our family love being near the sea; Dan and I both enjoy meeting people, sharing stories and showcasing the wonders of South Devon.
Originally from Aberystwyth and Paignton, Dan and I met at university and have lived in various locations, including Southampton, Oxford and Australia. In 2016, we returned to Torbay with our two kids and embarked on the incredible adventure of purchasing The Chesterfield in early 2022. Creating personalized experiences, offering local advice, and ensuring lasting memories for our guests is what we genuinely enjoy. Our reviews reflect our exceptional friendliness, helpfulness, cleanliness and that staying here is “truly a pleasure”.
Finally, when you choose to stay at our family friendly Guest House you are not only supporting a small, family-run business but also benefiting from the best rates by booking directly with us. By avoiding costly commission charges from Online Travel Agents (OTA), you not only contribute to our success but benefit from a more personal touch in your booking journey. We always encourage our guests to use OTA’s as a source of inspiration but, when it’s time to book, to go direct with your chosen accommodation. The majority of our returners who originally booked via an OTA come back to us direct for their future stays.
